The Hilton Orrington is in downtown Evanston and about 15 mins walking distance from the workshop. Northwestern typically used this hotel for its guests.

The Hilton Garden Inn is another option, but adds another 2-3 mins to the walk.

Parking:
Please be advised that parking is very limited in the area and campus parking lots quickly fill up to capacity.  The construction of a new building on campus has temporarily disabled several hundred parking spaces, and street parking is limited. The campus can be conveniently accessed via the L Train (Purple Line; stop at Foster and walk 10 minutes east on Foster to Norris University Center). If you choose to drive, make sure you allocate enough time to purchase a parking permit from the Northwestern Parking Office on your way to the workshop. The Parking Office is open between the hours 8am-4pm, and it is located at 1819 Hinman Avenue, Evanston, IL, a short 2-minute drive to campus. A Visitor's day permit costs $8.25. The Parking Office's phone number is 847-491-3319, and its web site is http://www.northwestern.edu/up/parking/. The site has links to maps of both on-campus parking sites, as well as City of Evanston's public parking lots and extended meters. The parking maps are also attached to this email (Map-1 and Map-2). The pins in Map-1 mark the Norris University Center where the event will be held, the two most convenient parking lots, and the location of the University Parking Office on Hinman Ave (blue pin).

For the Poster and Oral Presenters only that are not affiliated with Northwestern University, we will provide one free visitor parking permit to the main presenter of each poster and oral presentation. The attached Map-3 (also available online at http://goo.gl/maps/xk4vX) marks two spots. The North pin marks the Norris University Center where the workshop takes place. The South pin marks the meeting location to distribute the free visitor parking permits to the oral and poster presenters. To get there, turn right at the corner of Chicago Ave and Sheridan Rd, turn left on Campus Drive, and follow the signs to Norris Center until you reach a traffic arm that prevents you from driving further into campus. A student will be waiting there between 7:30-8:30 am. If you are a presenter, we suggest that you drive to that location, provide your name, obtain your visitor's parking permit, continue to the parking lot of your choice to park, and then walk to Norris Center. If you arrive after 8:30 am, you will need to obtain your permit from one of the workshop volunteers at Louis Room in Norris.

Electronic Devices
  • Please charge fully your electronic devices ahead of time. There will be some extension cords along the sides of the room, but the power outlets will be limited.
  • There is free guest WiFi covering the entire Northwestern campus, including the Norris University Center. You will need to sign up, but you will not need any password to access the network.

Abstract Submission

Authors are invited to submit abstracts (for either oral or poster presentation) of not more than 300 words, plus a biography of the presentation author. The abstract must be submitted online through the Google Form at https://docs.google.com/forms/d/13tE5lHtxjR-vgzNK5YzD8hON8F7uHbL_9laAvWDfp-M/viewform before the deadline of April 11th, 2013 at 11:59PM CDT.
